Director of Public Safety, Michael Shackleford has been with the Oak Point Police Department since December 1996 and has run the department since October 1997. During his tenure in Oak Point, Director Shackleford, in association with city counsels and citizen input and support has worked hard to implement services that would further protect our citizens. Director Shackleford has applied for and the city has received over $500,000.00 in Federal Grants. Director Shackleford has a firm belief in the Community Policing concept and with other members of the community started the Oak Point Officers Community Fund that provides relief for members of our community in need. He has implemented several programs to the department including the Vacation Watch, Close Patrol, Elderly watch, Home Safety Inspection Program, Gun Safety program and others. Director Shackleford owns a lot within the city and hopes to one day build a home here. I
